Weep for yourself, my man,
You’ll never be what is in your heart
Weep little lion man,
You’re not as brave as you were at the start
Rate yourself and rake yourself,
Take all the courage you have left
Wasted on fixing all the problems that you made in your own head

But it was not your fault but mine
and it was your heart on the line
I really fucked it up this time
Didn’t I, my dear? didn’t i my

Tremble for yourself, my man,
You know that you have seen this all before
Tremble little lion man,
You’ll never settle any of your score
Your grace is wasted in your face,
Your boldness stands alone among the wreck
now learn from your mother or else I spend your days biting
your own neck

Good Morning

A little Connie Video <3 to brighten such a gloomy day

Last Tuesday 29th May I had the sheer privilege of modelling and representing some the regions most up and coming designers at Newcastle Fashion Front Row. I have not been living in the North East for very long by Geordie standards but really have a strong sense of family and commitment to this region. Since moving here 11 years ago I have always found the area to be so friendly and close knit in supporting each others causes. The region to me as well has always been so fashionable and individual compared to others. I am always so impressed that people choose local instead of large high street chains in this region, therefore to be asked to model at a night that actively promotes this sense of community is just incredible.

Newcastle Fashion week is now on its 2nd year and growing steadily with each year progressing. For myself and many others the highlight of the week is Fashion Front Row organised and run by Jayne Elwell and Sandra Tang. The night is a celebration of all things Fashion North East. A chance to see new and upcoming designers and the incredible fashion they create. The night is set within the beautiful venue of As You Like It and supports the charity Cash For Kids

That night I had the distinct pleasure of modelling for The Libertarian, Tallulah Love Luxury Lingerie, Christopher Niari and Suzanne Porter.

The Libertarian is run by the incredibly talented Jayne Elwell. I have known Jayne now for 2 years due to burlesque contacts and our love of performance art and afternoon tea. When I first met Jayne she was only just starting out with The Libertarian and It has been incredible watching her journey. I love the general concept of The Libertarian

‘Hat wear from the formal to fantastic’

Her designs are so unique and creative. Suited for every budget Jayne has creations that are sure to stand out in every event and situation. I had the pleasure of modelling for her at Fashion Front Row her new hire collection. This gives everyone the chance to wear an incredible unique piece without stretching the budget.

The first hat I wore was the stunning ‘Eiffel Tower’ fascinator. I have been lucky enough to wear this piece for other photoshoots. It was teamed with large sunglasses and a stunning 1930’s retro vintage pyjama suit by the brand new company Tar & Roses. This design would look just perfect for a wedding or perhaps a visit to the races?

The second fascinator I wore was a personal favourite ‘The Pile of Cakes’ . It simply looks good enough to eat and is incredibly comfortable as positioned on a headband. Perfect for the wedding season.

Modelling for Tallulah Love is always an absolute pleasure. I met Michelle creator and designer of Tallulah Loves this time last year at Fashion Front Row and have been smitten ever since with the company and the top lady. Michelle is so passionate about her brand and the North East. it just makes me smile every time I see her and how well the company is doing. Her designs are creative and luxurious, every girl needs a bit of Tallulah in their lives. At Fashion Front Row I had the pleasure of modelling her gorgeous Unicorn design and 2 other brand new lines that I am sure will be released soon! The whole catwalk was a real show for me. I got to play with my fans which is always fun and got a shower of glitter whilst taking a turn on the catwalk! All the beautiful lingerie was complimented by stunning Rosie Willet designs, beautiful tiaras and headpieces. Myself and the other Di Alta Classe girls modelling felt like mini princesses for the evening!

The most joyous thing about my work is meeting new incredible people. At my last catwalk I met the sensational Christopher Niari. His work is so individual and inspired, I see big things from this chap in the future! His new collection is breathtaking with sharp tailored edges, genius use of fabrics and boundary breaking textures. I modelled an underbust navy dress made with over 240 layers of fabric. The dress weighed in at 2 stone but once on felt weightless and effortless in movement. The dress gave an incredibly nipped in waistline which I savour as a Burlesque artist. All his designs were complimented by Vintage Princess Jewellery beautiful decadent designs.

I have had the pleasure of modelling for Suzanne Porter before. Her designs are always so fresh and airey with a beautiful mix of modern with retro inspired fashion. I had the pleasure of wearing her Occasions collection wedding dress. A stunning dress perfect for a destination wedding.
The whole evening was so incredible. I had the absolute pleasure of working with burlesque artists of the North East Princess Pandora, Elle O’Buoys, Bettina Spankenhaus as well as The Di Alta Classe girls <3
My hair on the night (which i have received so many compliments about including host Jayne Middlemass!) was created by the one and only Evil Twin Creative Hair and Make Up . I couldn’t have been happier with the finished result <3
I cannot wait till next year already! I also have some ideas of my own that need to be put into place!

Ramblings Nothing Else

The new year came in with the typical songs of ‘2012 is my year’ , ‘This year is going to be big’ ,and  ’2011 sucked can’t wait for 2012’  and I sat with bated breath waiting for my big revelation…………. Nothing. My wishes were simple a continuation from last year but as I got to thinking more and more I realised what missed opportunities would be occuring if I kept to this plan in Burlesque.

Burlesque to me even in the short space of time I have been performing seems to be in an odd fashion representing Beauty Pageants in a modern form. Before you all shout ‘It is nowhere near is like Toddlers and Tiaras’ Let me explain. To me Burlesque represents the true beauty of a women inside and out talent, presence, inner and outer beauty. Not based on size, weight, knobbly bits. Based on how they present themselves to a panel of judges. In this case an audience. Its about character, about winning the crowd. This may be by being a dynamic, dominant stage force or perhaps a meek graceful classical elegance but it encompasses the true beauty of a women (gents too ;) or womens character (power to women paragraph finished)

The next thing is then to take this Pageant and bring entertainment in for your audience. if we alone perform for ourselves we are doing nothing more then presenting Burlesque “Karaoke” performing for your own benefit to friends and family and not the audience. The audience are key priority which brings me back to my original paragraph about moving forward with Burlesque in 2012. I refuse to become complacent in burlesque and rely on past performances, and shows I have performed at. I want the audience to always be experiencing the best of what I can offer. This year I have large plans for old acts, Giant plans for a new act towards the end of the year and the end of one act. I have decided to retire ‘Delicate’  I will give no more for my reasoning. Anyway my rambling is over. I need a cup of tea and Toddlers and Tiaras is on Dmax.
